Last week East Peoria, IL boys basketball team hosted Illinois top-ranked Division 3A team, Peoria High, IL. The matchup wasn’t highly anticipated as it should have been however it was one of the best games of the season in all of high school basketball in Illinois. With the game going into double overtime, every possession mattered. Peoria High, IL is led by Miami-Ohio commit, Leshawn Stowers. Stowers is complimented with two of Peoria’s top freshmen, Orlando Edwards jr. and Nigel Moore both being great role players this season. With a 14-1 record after winning both the Decatur Turkey Tournament and the State Farm Classic, the pressure was on Peoria High going into East Peoria, IL.

East Peoria, IL is a program that has not had the most success over time however there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel. 2026 guard Jackson Ahrens, Cole Dubois, 2027 point guard, and considered as one of Illinois top forwards, Quinton Kitt, 2027 wing, all three deserve notice and plays a major role in the teams success this season at 11-2. East Peoria stunned Peoria High in a double overtime victory in this matchup. “We are here, we are not to be taken lightly. Everyone would see EP on the schedule and just cross us out as a W. We here, we here to play with everyone, everyone in the state.” Ahrens expressed.

East Peoria, IL has two major conference matchups this week against Morton, IL and Metamora, IL. “We change the narrative. They’re not gonna just see us on the schedule and mark it off as a win.” Cole Dubois, 2027 point guard went for 33 points in the matchup with Peoria High. You can expect teams to understand what’s at task moving forward knowing that East Peoria is on a roll and are out to make a name for themselves.
