Edvardas Stasys is whom we consider to be the most unknown prospect in the State with the most certainty amongst the unknown to be a Division I talent. At 6 foot 7, Edvardas stands tall and lanky he is very easy to overlook, that’s until the bright lights come on. Stasys is a 2027 sophomore and plays a very important role for Benet Academy.

After watching Benet three times this season, a team who is considered to be a Top 5 in Illinois, Edvardas continued to progress throughout this season. We saw Edvardas against two different types of competition, two different styles of play, Bloom Township, and Stevenson. Stasys did not play against Evanston, a well-coached team who we consider Top 5 in Illinois, but many others do not.

Stasys is very long and has very active hands around the rim. The length of Edvardas allows him to rebound the ball off the glass at a very efficient rate. Only being a sophomore, Stasys ceiling is very high. He has not stepped into a scoring role in any games we have seen but don’t doubt this young talent. Division I colleges will be inquiring about him soon. Stasys did not play for a stance during the playoffs this season but his return last Friday was much needed against Downers Grove North. Edvardas posted 6 points, 4 rebounds and 4 blocks. The length and mobility of this 6 foot 7 sophomore is very good. He loves to get offensive boards, he holds his grounding defensively and he knows how to fill the lane to get easy buckets.

Benet faces Evanston in a rematch this Friday to go to the State Championship on Saturday. The matchup between Vito Rocca and Edvardas Stasys will be very intriguing as both underclassmen will play a major key in leading their team to be one game from State Champions.
