As we close out the high school season for good with the McDonald’s All-American game being today, hearing national names will be most common to end the season. Payton Edwards is one of Illinois Most Overlooked Prospects in the senior class. Edwards cracked our Top 20 Overlooked list because of his consistency throughout this season with Bloom.
Payton continued to show up in big games for Bloom this season helping lead the way against talented teams like Lincoln Park and Rich Township. We caught Payton against two different styles of play and got a complete understanding for his game. Edwards has a very long wingspan and can guard multiple positions at 6 foot 4. Payton excels in up-tempo style of play and can score the ball efficiently in both half court of fast break game play.
Payton is very scrappy defensively and tends to make the hustle plays that wins games more than often. Payton can improve on his shooting range, but he definitely can hit the shot if left open. You can watch the footage below to get a complete analysis of Payton’s game.
